They are mighty hunters and very intelligent sea mammals. This handsome Chief of the Sea leaps and plays as he astonishes all with his power and perception. The first whales came into being when Raven carved them out of wood and magically gave them life force. I had the exceptional experience of waterskiing in Port Susan when an Orca Pod streaked by chasing Salmon up to the Stillaguamish River. They swam so fast that the Salmon literally jumped out of the water swimming as fast as they could to get into the shallows to evade the big Orca. The Orca swam right toward me and under me leaping and splashing controlling their speed to match our little ski boat. Of course, I was frightened, their other name is Killer Whale, but I tell you; I had an incredible feeling of calm and playfulness come over me that I will never forget. They are indeed a totem for me. Are you a playful spirit too?
